24 Hours Business Game in Rotterdam

From May 21st to 22nd, the ECE Students 24 hours business game took place on ECE Campus in Rotterdam. Together with three students from the Rotterdam Erasmus University, I participated with the cofoundme business idea in this 24 hours competition.

The Business Game started in the early afternoon with some inspirational key speeches. After this start, we moved to the ECE Campus and were not only able to enjoy a fantastic view over the port of rotterdam but also some valuable workshop sessions. After these inputs it was time to work on our case. Cofoundme was established as a platform to find cofounders in order to start a startup. The initial platform was founded by the Young Entrepreneurs Club (YEC) in St. Gallen, Switzerland. Shortly after its launch, the ETH Entrepreneur Club (EC ETH) joined the cofoundme project and it became an official joint venture of EC ETH and YEC. Since the official relaunch in November 2014, users grew rapidly and the focus now lies on the internationalization of the platform.

During the 24 hours business game, our project team worked on the international aspect as well as on the business model. After a night filled with more workshops and working sessions, our team was finally ready to present our inputs to a first jury member in the early morning. After considering the pitches of all teams the jury selected the top 8 to participate in a live pitching session in front of all jury members and the crowd. We were happy enough to be one of the selected teams. The live pitching session consisted of one on one K.O. rounds where both teams got the same questions and had to answer them accordingly. The jury voted one of the two competing teams to the next round. Suddenly we found ourselves in the final pitching session and were also lucky enough to win this last round. This saves cofoundme office space for one year in Rotterdam as well as access to the ECE Get Started accelerator program. This is the perfect starting package for our cofoundme internationalization and will be rolled out in September among our ambassador program in other countries. We are already very excited and will keep you posted about updates from our Dutch ambassadors and of course also from our Swiss cofoundme core team.
